Choosing the Right FSSAI License
FSSAI categorizes food licenses primarily based on annual turnover and the scale/nature of operations. Choosing the correct category is critical — applying for the wrong one can delay your application or require a fresh filing.
FSSAI Basic Registration
For small-scale food businesses with turnover up to ₹12 Lakh — including petty retailers, hawkers, home-based sellers, and temporary stall holders. Filed using Form A on the FoSCoS portal.
FSSAI State License
For medium-scale businesses with turnover between ₹12 Lakh and ₹20 Crore operating within a single state — including manufacturers, hotels up to 4-star, and storage units. Filed using Form B.
FSSAI Central License
For large businesses with turnover above ₹20 Crore, importers, exporters, and businesses operating in multiple states. Also filed using Form B, but processed by FSSAI headquarters or regional offices.
